It's time to get Mossy!

We made these mossy letters for a 50th Birthday Party. However, they would work well for an anniversary, wedding or any special event!

Step One:
We collected the moss from a woods nearby our property...if this isn't a possibility, you can purchase bags of moss from craft stores like Michael's or florists.

Step Two:
For the letters/numbers, we cut out shapes out of plywood but foam board would work just as well.

Step Three:
So the wood would not show, we painted the numbers with acrylic paint...you can use dark green, brown or black.

Step Four:
We placed pieces of the moss on the board and wrapped wire around it securing it. Just keep adding pieces and wrapping it with wire until you achieve the fluffiness you want. If you are using dried moss, you can glue the moss to the board with a glue-gun.

Step Five:
Because we were attaching the letters to the side of our cottage, we just screw-nailed them on. However, for something different, attached wire or ribbon to the back and hang the letters anyplace you like!

Happy Sunday Everyone!

How to make a fantastic Party Banner!

Hi All...Rabbit here...
We are celebrating a birthday this weekend and thought we would share some pictures of the party banners that we made for the event.
The first banner is made from raw canvas and hand painted with black acrylic paint. I drew the letters free hand...but if your not that adventurous... just enlarge letters on your computer...cut them out...trace around and voila!
We sewed a simple flap over the back and hung the letters from a jute rope.
A really fun project and you can use any font that you like!

For the smaller striped banner...you can recycle old fabrics that you have lying around the house. We used striped fabric we bought ages ago at IKEA and raw canvas. For an extra handmade touch, we stenciled leaves on the canvas using apple green acrylic paint. The ribbon was a lovely grosgrain printed with little birds that we found at Michaels. After we finished all the triangles of fabric, we ran them through the sewing machine. The different fabrics create a more eclectic look and its a great chance to recycle left over bits that you have saved for the next project. I know I can't throw away scraps and this worked perfectly!
And remember we will have a selection of banners for sale at our Open-Air Market in August...stayed tuned for details!
Happy Weekend Everyone!

"Clumps", Brownies, and Carrot Cake: Oh My!

Planning ahead when doing a "big bake" is CRUCIAL!

Some things really must be prepared the day of, but--fortunately--some things are better once they have had the chance to settle and mature for a day!
Brownies, "clumps", and carrot cake are three such things. Easily stored and even frozen these were
the first things to get checked off of my list!

Chocolate-Coconut-Cranberry "Clumps"
Pumpkin Spice "Clumps"

"Clumps" (so-named by a good friend on a cottaging weekend) are my version of mini-scones! Mystery solved for those of you who were wondering what the heck they are!  I have made three types of clump for the Round Table: Potato Rosemary, Chocolate-Coconut-Cranberry, and Pumpkin Spice!  Stop on by and taste one-- bet you leave with a bag!

While I was cutting the brownies, one of them was "un-even" so, of course, I had to straighten it out.... BAM!  I am so glad I did because I can confidently say that these may be the best brownies I have EVER made-- and that is saying a lot since I have been baking since the age of "knee-high to a grasshopper".

Here are some photos to tantalize your tastebuds and motivate you to come out and see me this Sunday at the Round Table Artisan and Craft Show!

[Round Table will be held at The Parkhill on Hunter, 180 Hunter St W., Peterborough Sunday, June 3rd from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and again Monday, June 4th from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.)
